  • 1.  Assign library config to site using API

    Posted 28 days ago

Quick question, and maybe I am misreading, but how do I assign config I create in the Library to sites using the API in New Central?

    Thanx in advance!

    Best regards,

It's there, it's just easier to find through PyCentral than in the raw endpoint list. The call is scopes.assign_profile_to_scope, and it takes the profile name in resource form like wlan/SecureWiFi, a profile_persona such as CAMPUS_AP, scope set to site, and the scope_id of the target. So the library object and the assignment are two separate operations: create or update the profile first, then bind it to the scope.

The Validated Solution Guide's Central configuration API page writes it up with a worked example, and it's the clearest thing published on this right now.

If you'd rather stay on raw REST, the SDK has a passthrough, session.command with apiMethod and apiPath, which that same page uses for endpoints the SDK doesn't wrap yet. I don't have a confirmed bare path for the scope assignment itself, so I'd sniff it off the SDK call rather than guess at one.

I do use PyCentral already, mainly for the initial connection. Thanks for your advice, will look up the VSD and verify my workflow against theirs.

As mentioned, it may be easier to user PyCentral or other SDK/frameworks, but the underlying API call to apply a library item to a scope is documented here,

    Hi Chris,

I created a guide for this on our Developer Hub. If you need more assistance than just the raw API endpoint as other users have provided you can reference the guide here. Let me know if you need any additional help with this.

    Cheers,

    Collin

I read the guide, but I do miss a lot of things. Currently in the process of creating a tool that read classic central config, filters out the necessary information and creating body payloads for New Central. I miss a lot, for example basic WPA3-Ent SSID workflow, gateway flows, etc.
