Hi, use WinXP Pro and have recently upgraded my wireless network to b/g with WPA. I have a spare WL110 card and would like to know whether it will work with WPA? I've searched the web and got totally confused by chipsets, OEM manufacturers, etc.

    Any help/advice gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Julian

No. Compaq ended engineering support for this card before the WPA specification came out.

The 110 has an Agere MAC, but Agere no longer produces WLAN chipsets.

The following driver from agere will support WPA.

If you have any problems setting it up let me know. I'll be more than happy to help you.

    Steve,

Thought I could just update the drivers with these and it would work however Windows won't find these drivers (using update driver in device manager).

Could you let me know how to do this?

Also, should this work slotting the WL110 into the WL210 PCI Adaptor?

    Thanks,

    Julian

    Steve,

Sorry, got ahead of myself. Driver loaded fine and WPA is working. Thanks for all your help.

I assume it should still work with the WL210?

    Thanks,

    Julian

I am glad I could help, I haven't tried it with the WL210, but it should work as well.

    Hi
I have the same problem with needing WPA for a Compaq WL110 PC Card but Compaq isn't in the manufacturer list with this driver. Can you tell me which driver to use from the list? Is it the Agere Wireless PC card Model 0110 or the Wireless WLAN PC Card?

    Martin,

I found the '2Wire Wireless PC Card' worked for me. Was going to try each one in turn.

    Steve,

Do you know if any drivers exist for the WL110 and Pocket PC 2002?

    Thanks,

    Julian

For my first try I used the No name WPA PC card option in the list which appears to be a generic one and it works fine on a Toshiba TE2000.

I have never tried this driver, but you might want to give it a shot:

    Steve,

It seems the driver isn't loading. Do you know whether I need to manually edit the driver files (as I had to do to get the WL110 to work with XP)?

Guys, Thanks for this post - it's really helped me out. I can confirm that the WL110 does work with Windows XP SP2 on a WPA network (configured as a 2Wire Wireless PCI Card) when it's placed inside a WL210.

I'm running Win2000 on an Compaq Armada V300 with a Compaq Wl110 card and want to use WPA. I downloaded & install the drivers from the Agere site mentioned by Steve Nurnberg and upgraded my WL110 driver (tried both the Agere Wireless PC card Model 0110 driver and the 2Wire Wireless PCI Card driver). Both upgrades successfully applied, BUT after each one neither was recognized as a radio adapter card anymore. Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike

    Mike,

Sorry but my knowledge is limited. My notebook is using XP and the wireless card is seen as a network adaptor in device manager.

Thus not sure how 2000 sees the WL110.

    Cheers,

    Julian

Julian, Thanks for the prompt reply. I was
hoping Steve Nurnberg would reply as he seems to be the expert... do you know how to or can you forward this to him. Thanks again, Mike
